Bio
Rose Penman is the Academic Specialist of Eastern Kentucky University’s Center for Student Parents. Her primary role is to provide TANF recipients with academic support and guidance to find the right major, identify and achieve academic and personal goals, provide mentoring and tutoring resources and to be an advocate for student parents.
Rose came to the university as a student participant in the program, where she completed an associate’s degree and was then hired in a full time administrative position. From there, she completed her bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Studies and was promoted again into her current role.
Rose has 3 grown daughters and is a proud grandmother. She is involved in various activities supporting women in her church and other organizations. She is a champion for low income women and knows from experience how education can change the course of your life for generations to come.
