You play a role in the success of student parents. They need the help of faculty, staff, students and support systems.
What Can You Do To Help?- Know the Title IX Basics
- Offer priority advising and registration for student parents
- Provide opportunities for childcare when offering after hours events
- Connect student parents with on campus resources
- Create child friendly spaces in your department
- Provide extended office hours that fit with childcare needs
- Create a lactation space in your building
- Insert child changing facilities in the bathrooms
- Provide more time for studying or homework
- Provide extra time for assignments
- Provide flexible hours for tutoring
- Provide alternative assignments for group or out of class activities
- Have toys in your office when parents bring their children
- Provide flexibility in attendance policies
